NICU or the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit refers to the specialized intensive care which provides care for premature newborn infants. At Aster Wayanad, our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is staffed and equipped to be one of the best in the region. A Level III classification implies that our NICU is focused on advanced care, which includes the care of extremely premature, low birth-weighted and critically ill neonates. The most premature babies admitted to our NICU were merely 26 weeks old, weighing 876g and 27 weeks 5 days old, weighing 650g, and both the babies managed to make a healthy recovery.
